Today the World Cup will start in Mexico City. Mexico will become the first country in the World to host the FIFA World Cup three times! Zayu is the Mexican mascot representing energy and happiness! ¡Hoy inicia el Mundial 2026 en México convirtiéndose en el primer país en el mundo en ser anfitrión tres veces! La mascota mexicana se llama Zayu. ¡Buena suerte a todos los países que compiten en el Mundial y esperemos que nuestro país deje una huella inmemorable!
In 2026 Mexico will become the first country in the World to host a World Cup for a third time (it was also the first country in the World to host it twice 40 years ago).
In 1970 the World Cup took place from May 31 to June 21 and the champion was Brazil. Juanito was the World Cup’s mascot (it was also the first “human” mascot in World Cup history).
In 1986 the World Cup took place from May 31 to June 29 and the champion was Argentina. Pique, a spicy hot pepper was the World Cup’s mascot.
In 2026 the World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19. Zayu, a sporty Jaguar is one of the three World Cup’s mascot representing Mexico along with an American and Canadian mascots.

En el verano del 2026 México se convertirá en el primer país del mundo en ser anfitrión del Mundial de Futbol tres veces (también fue el primero en ser anfitrión dos veces hace 40 años).
En 1970 el Mundial tuvo lugar del 31 de mayo al 21 de junio siendo campeón Brasil. La mascota del Mundial fue el simpático Juanito.
En 1986 el Mundial tuvo lugar del 31 de mayo al 29 de junio siendo campeón Argentina. La mascota del Mundial fue el mexicanísimo chile jalapeño Pique.
En 2026 el Mundial tendrá lugar del 11 de junio al 19 de julio. Zayu, un atlético y cultural jaguar, será la mascota mexicana del Mundial junto a las mascotas canadiense y estadounidense.
Mexican athletes provide a several golden medals at the Paralympic Games. The Mexican Paralympic team usually ranks amongst the Top 20. During the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris Mexico ranked 30th. Our gold medalists were: Gloria Zarza and Juan Pablo Cervantes in track and field, and Arnulfo Castorena in the swimming competition. Congratulations to our athletes!

Felicidades al equipo de atletas paralímpicos mexicanos por su participación en los juegos de Paris 2024. En esta ocasión el equipo quedó en la posición 30 del medallero. Los medallistas de oro fueron: Gloria Zarza y Juan Pablo Cervantes en atletismo y Arnulfo Castorena en natación.
During the 2024 Paris Olympic Games Mexico won 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals ranking at place 65. Considering Mexico has the 10th largest population in the World, the ranking was quite low. However, we cannot deny the happiness that Prisca Awiti, Marco Verde, Angela Ruiz, Alejandra Valencia, Ana Paula Vázquez, Juan Celaya and specially Osmar Olvera gave to our country!

Durante los Juegos Olímpicos de París los atletas mexicanos ganaron 5 medallas (3 de plata y 2 de bronce) en las disciplinas de tiro con arco, tae kwon do, clavados y boxeo. Aunque México cuenta con la décima población más grande del mundo, en las olimpiadas ocupamos el lugar número 65. No obstante, Prisca Awiti, Marco Verde, Angela Ruiz, Alejandra Valencia, Ana Paula Vázquez, Juan Celaya y especialmente Osmar Olvera dieron al país una gran alegría. Gracias atletas!
A recent video where a 4 year old Ethiopian kid (living in the USA) says he wants to become Mexican went viral in Mexico to the point that some soccer players from Mexico’s National Team prepared a surprise for him! As Costa Rican singer naturalized Mexican once said “Mexicans decide where on Earth they want to be born in”.
El video donde aparece un niño de 4 años de Etiopía (radicado en Estados Unidos) se hizo viral en México debido a la insistencia del niño en querer ser mexicano. Jugadores de la Selección Nacional de Futbol le prepararon una sorpresa. Como alguna vez dijera la cantante costarricense nacionalizada mexicana “Los mexicanos nacemos donde nos da la gana”.
