ENGLISH

One of Mexico’s most famous divas during the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema was Maria Felix. She was born in the northwestern state of Sonora on April 8th, 1914 and she died on April 8th, 2002 at the age of 88 years old. Do you think this Mexican diva programed her mind to leave this world and immortalize her image on the same day that she was born?

I love the performance of Coldplay’s song MY UNIVERSE given by the Ukrainian children choir COLOR MUSIC. One of Mexico’s most famous scientists, Marcos Moshinsky, was born in Ukraine and immigrated to our country at age 3. His studies focused on Quantum Physics…a necessary tool to understand the universe. Through music and science…let’s connect with OUR UNIVERSE 🤓 !

There have been few Ukrainian immigrants to Mexico but they have left meaningful footprints in our country. Although these Ukrainian children are not living in Mexico, we are certainly enjoying this meaningful song (originally performed by UK’s COLDPLAY & South Korea’s BTS) wishing that Peace prevails in that region of the World! The children sing it in English, Korean and Ukrainian.

Miss Universe 2020 or 2021? Miss Mexico won Miss Universe for the third time in the pageant’s history. Andrea Meza, from the northern state of Chihuahua won in Hollywood, Florida since the last time that Mexico won in 2010 with Ximena Navarrete. The first Mexican to win the pageant was Lupita Jones 30 years ago in 1991. Below, Andrea wears as the National Costume an “Alebrije” from the southern state of Oaxaca. Alebrijes comes from the mind of Pedro Linares, a folk artist who saw alebrijes in his dreams many years ago. Today, alebrijes are colorful crafts sold around most markets in Mexico.

ESPAÑOL
¿Miss Universo 2020 o 2021?

2021: Happy New Year!

ENGLISH

Although piñatas are more popular during Christmas and birthdays, perhaps it is a good idea to introduce them at the very beginning of the year to start 2021 with good vibes. A traditional piñata is shaped as a 7-point star each representing a capital sin: envy, gluttony, greed, lust, pride, sloth and wrath. Mexicans usually hit the piñatas in order to break them and get rid of these 7 capital sins. When the piñata breaks, good things come out of them (chocolates, peanuts and fruits). All in all, breaking the piñatas symbolize the victory of good things over bad ones.

ENGLISH

XICO’S JOURNEY is an interesting Mexican animated movie that introduces to Mexican children with environmental awareness through the effects of “fracking”. All the animal characters in the movie are species we often see in the wild in most of Mexico. By the way, Xico (who belongs to a unique Mexican dog breed called Xoloescuincle) must find a “special messenger” who will help them deliver a message. Xico and his friends soon discover that he himself is the messenger.
