On December 18, 2020 Mexico’s president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador denominated October 12 as “Multicultural Nation Day”.

El 18 de diciembre de 2020 por decreto del presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador se cambió la denominación del 12 de octubre al “Día de la Nación Pluricultural”.

ENGLISH
Claudia Sheinbaum is the first woman in Mexico’s 200 year old history to become president! Her paternal grandparents were Ashkenazi Jews who immigrated to Mexico from Lithuania and her maternal grandparents were Sephardic Jews who immigrated to Mexico from Bulgaria. Mexican indigenous women recognized their new president by giving her the “Power Baton”.

Claudia Sheinbaum es la primera mujer presidenta en los 200 años de historia de México. Sus abuelos maternos, judíos sefardíes inmigraron a México desde Bulgaria y sus abuelos paternos, judíos azkenazí lo hicieron desde Lithuania. Mujeres indígenas mexicanas dieron el bastón de mando a la nueva presidenta.

ENGLISH

Mexican athletes provide a several golden medals at the Paralympic Games. The Mexican Paralympic team usually ranks amongst the Top 20. During the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris Mexico ranked 30th. Our gold medalists were: Gloria Zarza and Juan Pablo Cervantes in track and field, and Arnulfo Castorena in the swimming competition. Congratulations to our athletes!

Felicidades al equipo de atletas paralímpicos mexicanos por su participación en los juegos de Paris 2024. En esta ocasión el equipo quedó en la posición 30 del medallero. Los medallistas de oro fueron: Gloria Zarza y Juan Pablo Cervantes en atletismo y Arnulfo Castorena en natación.

ENGLISH

Last night Mexico celebrated its ARIEL AWARDS selecting the best movies in our country. The city of Guadalajara organized a very nice and funny ceremony that was broadcasted in TNT and MAX. TOTEM won “Best Mexican Film” category competing with Heroico (Heroic), Temporada de huracanes (Hurricane Season), Todo el Silencio (All Silence), El Eco (The Echo) and Familia (Family) which can be found on Netflix.

Anoche ganó en la ciudad de Guadalajara, Jalisco TÓTEM la categoría a mejor película mexicana en una divertida y muy bien organizada ceremonia de los Premios Arieles. Al igual que TÓTEM las otras películas nominadas Heroico, Temporada de huracanes, Todo el silencio, El Eco y Familia las pueden ver en Netflix o Izzi. La ceremonia se transmitió por el Canal 22 de Cultura Mexicana, por TNT y MAX.

Mexico at the 2024 Paris Olympics Games

During the 2024 Paris Olympic Games Mexico won 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals ranking at place 65. Considering Mexico has the 10th largest population in the World, the ranking was quite low. However, we cannot deny the happiness that Prisca Awiti, Marco Verde, Angela Ruiz, Alejandra Valencia, Ana Paula Vázquez, Juan Celaya and specially Osmar Olvera gave to our country!

Durante los Juegos Olímpicos de París los atletas mexicanos ganaron 5 medallas (3 de plata y 2 de bronce) en las disciplinas de tiro con arco, tae kwon do, clavados y boxeo. Aunque México cuenta con la décima población más grande del mundo, en las olimpiadas ocupamos el lugar número 65. No obstante, Prisca Awiti, Marco Verde, Angela Ruiz, Alejandra Valencia, Ana Paula Vázquez, Juan Celaya y especialmente Osmar Olvera dieron al país una gran alegría. Gracias atletas!

The Maya Train is a circuit that goes around the Yucatan peninsula’s three states: Campeche, Quintana Roo and Yucatan. The train stations are located near important cities such as Campeche, Cancun and Merida and also nearby famous magic towns and archeological sites such as Chichen Itzá, Edzna or Tulum. Local residents pay the lowest fees followed by national tourists and then international tourists.

El Tren Maya es un circuito que da la vuelta a la península de Yucatán recorriendo los estados de Campeche, Quintana Roo y Yucatán. Sus estaciones quedan cerca de ciudades importantes como Campeche, Cancún y Mérida, pueblos mágicos y zonas arqueológicas como Chichen Itzá, Edzná o Tulum. Los residentes locales son quienes pagan la tarifa más baja, seguidos por los turistas nacionales y finalmente los turistas extranjeros son quienes pagan la tarifa más alta.
