Mexico’s first female governor took office in 1979. Since then, the highest number of female governors in the same period was two. However, by 2024 there were 13 female governors leading 1/3 of the 32 states of Mexico.

La primera gobernadora en México fue la del estado de Colima en 1979. El número máximo de gobernadoras en un mismo periodo era de dos. Sin embargo, en el año 2024, trece gobernadoras eran líderes de más de un tercio del total de los32 estados en México.
